Alex Tarry

Alex Tarry

Biography

Alex's property career started at University, when studying Economics in Loughborough in the early '90's he saw an opportunity to buy and let houses to students, a business he and Naomi spent the next 15 years building up, cutting his teeth as a developer in the process, as many of the houses required updating and refurbishment. He then moved into private lets and more ambitious developments in Ipswich, creating high quality homes for local workers. At the same time he pursued a professional career in top flight marketing and sales for NatWest Bank and BT, learning to build brands, launch new products and recruit new customers, culminating in running NatWest's student recruitment campaign, at the time their biggest retail marketing campaign to date. These two careers converged in 2003 when Alex and Naomi bought their first holiday cottage in Aldeburgh and undertook a huge renovation, before marketing it themselves, the birth of Best of Suffolk. To date he has undertaken over 50 property developments, latterly focusing on interesting period buildings, creating holiday cottages and winning conservation awards in the process. Founding Best Estates in 2014 fulfilled a long held ambition to use his experience to bring a new energy to house selling in Suffolk.
